LEGOLAND WINDSOR HISTORY

LEGOLAND Windsor Resort has a fascinating history.

Founded in 1947 it was once the site of Windsor Safari Park, a popular animal attraction.

After the safari park closed in 1992 the LEGO Group chose this spot for a new LEGOLAND park.

It took lots of planning, building, and creativity to bring LEGOLAND Windsor to life.

The park officially opened on March 17, 1996, and quickly became a hit welcoming over 1.4 million guests in its first season.

Eventually, they were acquired by the Blackstone Group and Merlin Entertainments took over the parks’ management while LEGO retained a smaller ownership stake.

Today, LEGOLAND Windsor has grown to be a popular Berkshire attraction offering a wide range of rides, events, and entertainment for LEGO fans of all ages!
