ASCOT RACECOURSE HISTORY
Ascot Racecourse has a rich history that dates back to 1711 when Queen Anne founded it, envisioning the space as perfect for horses to gallop whilst out riding. The first race at Ascot happened on Saturday, August 11th, 1711. It comprised of three separate heats covering of 4 miles each, a true test of endurance for the winning horse.
Despite its royal ownership the racecourse’s popularity led to Parliament passing the Act of Enclosure in 1813. This ensured Ascot Heath would remain a racecourse accessible to the public in the future.
